Resolve to run more in the new year? The St. Luke’s Half Marathon is the race for you
Is running more included among your New Year’s Resolutions? Or losing weight? The St. Luke’s Half Marathon is perfectly timed for such resolutions. The April 24 race is about 16 weeks away, providing the perfect amount of time needed to train for a half marathon. Our official training plan doesn’t start until Jan. 17, so that even gives you some time to ease into your resolutions if needed. The St. Luke’s Half Marathon also is a great race if one of resolutions is to run your first-ever half marathon. The course is mostly flat, is diversified (both city running and beautiful parks) and is large enough to provide great crowd support but not too large that it’s crowded or overwhelming. LVRR Announces New Partnership with Runner’s World
October 1, 2015 – Lehigh Valley Road Runners is pleased to announce a new partnership with Runner’s World Half Marathon. Together, we present the Half & Half 26.2. Participants will run the St. Luke’s Half Marathon on April 24, 2016 in Allentown, PA and the Runner’s World Half Marathon on October 16, 2016 in Bethlehem in order to complete the marathon distance. Finishers will receive a unique, quality hoodie. Results will be announced at the Runner’s World Half award ceremony next October. Registration for the event is now open. Referral Contest Continues in 2016
Last year, event organizers of the St. Luke’s Half Marathon and 5K introduced a unique contest in which runners could win cash for referring their friends and family to run the half marathon or 5K. The Referral Contest will take place, again, in 2016 where race participants can seek to earn a top spot and win cash prizes for referring the most runners to the St. Luke’s Half Marathon and 5K races. When you sign up to run one of our races (either the 5K or half marathon) you will receive a unique referral link in your confirmation email. Simply provide this link to your family and friends and ask them to register for the race. When they sign up to run you will receive a referral credit. 2015 Referral Contest Winners
For our 2015 event we hosted a referral contest that ran from October 1, 2014 to March 15, 2015. Contestants received credit for each runner who registered to run our 5K or half marathon via a unique referral code. An internal system tallied the results. (April 29, 2013) – For the first time since 2009, two Lehigh Valley residents claimed top honors in the region’s largest running event. Ian Walsh, 27, Easton, Pa., won the 29th annual St. Luke’s Half Marathon, finishing the race with a time of 1:10:14. Kathleen Jobes, 43, Bethlehem, Pa., reclaimed the title of overall female winner with a time of 1:21:02. Second Chance To Enter Our Race
If you missed your chance to get into our race this is your second chance. We will be opening up 100 special entries for the St. Luke’s Half Marathon to raise money for the Mobile Youth Health Centers (MYHC) program, a division of St. Luke’s Community Health. The mobile units provide free medical and dental care to local middle-school and high-school students who might otherwise not receive treatment. Through visits made by St. Luke’s HealthStar vans during school hours, thousands of students who do not have a family doctor or insurance are able to receive care that is vital to their health and well-being. In addition to dental exams and sick-visits, the program features counseling on a variety of topics including nutrition, smoking cessation and dating violence. St. Luke’s MYHC is offered to eligible students at select city schools in Allentown and Bethlehem. Each entry will cost $100. All of…
