The first 5k in a series of four races was held on Wedneday evening, May 11th at the LVRR Clubhouse. 151 runners raced against the clock, embracing a warm evening which was much welcome after our cold, long winter. In a change of pace, the Lehigh Valley Road Runners have made this year’s four 5k events free, though a waiver must still be signed and a race bib should be worn.
The majority of runners brought their families along and stayed for the potluck picnic which followed the race. We were happy to see such a great turnout at our first race and hope that attendance at the next 5k will be even higher.
The Summer Series 5k races are held the first Wednesday of the month, May through August. Race time is 6:30 pm. No awards will be offered, but we can promise you a relaxing evening out with friends on the lawn of the LVRR Clubhouse with good food after the race.
